My approach to education can be summed up in two words: children first. Nowhere has the conservative message of hope seen such tremendous and broad-based gains than in the burgeoning education reform movement. Right here in Indiana, we have set the standard in education reform, creating the most successful first-year school choice program in the nation. Families from all walks of life now have the freedom to choose the best path for their children’s future. Education puts students first when kept local with parents that have the freedom to determine what works for their family. It’s time to take these Hoosier reforms to Washington.

For every Federal dollar spent in the classroom, Washington imposes a $2 cost through regulation and bureaucracy. That’s why I support solutions that reinforce local control of education while making the system equitable for all families, such as expanding school choice to empower parents, not bureaucracies, to decide how the resources are spent for a child’s education.

Hoosiers deserve a congressman that will take the lead on moving the ball forward in the education reform debate, and as your representative in congress, I will ensure our students are equipped to compete on the global stage.
