Parental rights are nonnegotiable. As more families choose to educate at home, we must defend the rights of parents from an ever-intrusive Federal government. Homeschooling is a fundamental option that families should be able to choose freely and without trepidation.

Indiana is a national leader in the education reform movement—creating the most successful first year educational choice program in the United States. However, let us not stop there. True educational choice means empowering parents to choose the best path for their children, and education is no longer an either-or choice between public and private schools. Homeschool families deserve a just system. I am a firm defender of parental rights and believe in leveling the playing field for homeschoolers. That is why I support tax credits for home educators to provide the same incentives afforded families that choose other educational options. As your congressman, I will be a steadfast guardian of parental rights, and a champion for the cause of home education.
